Earlier this month, the National Air Force Museum of Canada marked its 25th anniversary with the opening of the Centennial of Flight Display, "From the Burgess-Dunne to the Globemaster III."

The display, at 8 Wing/CFB Trenton, celebrates advances in aviation technology over the past 100 years and highlights the history and heritage of Canada’s Air Force. It also comes as Canada acknowledges the 100th anniversary of powered flight in this country and the 85th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

"We are very proud to acknowledge this important milestone in Canadian aviation history," said Chris Colton, executive director of the NAFMC.

Prior to the display unveiling, The Boeing Company donated $125,000 to the RCAF Memorial Foundation to assist with the development and expansion of the NAFMC. The Museum’s art gallery will be designated the Boeing Art Gallery.

"Museums play a central role in education and learning, and we are very pleased to support an organization key to enhancing the history of aviation in Canada," said Harry W. Peterson, vice-president of Boeing Operations International.

Originally founded in 1984 as the RCAF Memorial Library and Museum, the National Air Force Museum of Canada exhibits more than 6,000 artifacts and memorabilia, including the largest number of aircraft on static display in the country.
