MDA to help DND monitor areas of interest around the world
Richmond, B.C. – MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has received a CA$27.5 (CA$31.1 inc. HST) million contract from Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) for a surveillance solution capable of being rapidly deployed to any area of interest around the world.
MDA will deliver two transportable satellite surveillance ground stations that can receive and process imagery from multiple satellites in minutes. DND commanders will use this solution to better monitor and respond to Canadian domestic missions such as border security and Arctic sovereignty, as well as to overseas operations, such as peace-keeping and disaster relief.
