Boeing signs IRB deals for ScanEgale program
Boeing used the opening day of CANSEC to announce the first US$25 million in contracts to Canadian companies as part of its IRB commitment for Canada’s order of the ScanEagle small unmanned aerial vehicle (SUAV).
In April, Canada awarded a $30 million contract to Insitu, a Boeing subsidiary, for services in support of Canadian Forces’ intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in Afghanistan. As part of the deal, Boeing must match the contract value with dollar-for-dollar investments in the Canadian economy through Industry Canada’s Industrial and Regional Benefits policy.
Among the contracts signed between Boeing and Canadian businesses are deals with ING Engineering for unmanned vehicle systems field services; MKS for its Integrity software and consulting services for SUAV program life-cycle management; and NovAtel of Alberta for ScanEagle GPS.
